Duke Fuqua MBA Profile
The “Team Fuqua” spirit is not just a catchphrase when it comes to Duke University’s iconic school of business. Instead, it is a culture and a set of values that defines the school’s offerings, from the full-time MBA program to the Weekend Executive MBA.
Because of that spirit, Fuqua asks a bit more of its Executive MBA participants.
The school requires a one-week residential orientation at the beginning of the program, as well as a two-week residential elective period during the end of the program – in addition to the bi-weekly weekend residencies.
But for all that they ask, the Fuqua School of Business also gives a lot back to its students. The school’s top-ranked faculty teaches both Weekend Executive courses as well as courses for full-time MBA students, and everyone at Fuqua is fully engaged in the process of creating stronger leaders for tomorrow’s businesses.
Classes in the Duke Fuqua Executive MBA program are typically small, with an average of 90 students enrolled per year. Students come from a wide range of industries and companies, and have an average of 11 years of professional work experience.

Curriculum Overview
Fuqua School of Business prides itself on being able to offer the true Duke experience to all of its MBA students, including those in the Weekend Executive MBA program. Executive MBA students will complete 18 courses during the 19-month program, all taught by the same top-ranked faculty who teach Duke’s full-time MBA program.
The Weekend MBA’s 18 courses fall into three categories: ten core courses focused on primary business functions, four leadership courses focused on personal growth, and four electives focused on helping students hone specific knowledge areas. Examples include:

Program Requirements
The Executive MBA program at Duke Fuqua is designed for candidates with at least five years of professional experience. Enrolled students must be employed full time or working an equivalent amount in a business that they own.
All students are required to have a letter of support from their employer; financial sponsorship is encouraged but not required for Fuqua Executive MBA candidates.
Tuition Cost
For the class entering in May 2016, the total cost for the Fuqua Executive MBA program is $122,500. This cost includes tuition, fees, books and class materials, and room and board for the required bi-weekly residential periods. This cost does not include travel to and from Durham, North Carolina, or the cost of a laptop for use during the program.
Optional fees for the Weekend MBA include:
– a Fuqua Managed Laptop ($1,550)
– additional fees for a concentration in Energy and the Environment, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, or Strategy ($4,000)
– a Health Sector Management certification ($6,000)
– the two-week Global Academic Travel Experience program (cost varies).
Course Length
The Weekend Executive MBA program at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business is a 19-month program, with classes taking place on alternate weekends at the school’s Durham, North Carolina campus.
The program begins with a one-week residential orientation, and the final term opens with a two-week residential period.
In between the residential periods, students continue their education with distance learning: coursework, exams, and online discussions with your classmates.
They also have the option to complete a 12-day Global Academic Travel Experience, typically held between the MBA program’s 3rd and 4th terms.

Duke’s Fuqua School of Business accepts applicants in six rounds. For the class entering in May 2016, the application deadlines are:
– Round 1: July 15, 2015
– Round 2: Sept. 2, 2015
– Round 3: Oct. 21, 2016
– Round 4: Dec. 2, 2015
– Round 5: Feb. 10, 2016
– Round 6: March 30, 2016
International students are encouraged to apply by round 5. All applicants should receive notification about the status of their application within three to four weeks.
