School Summary
MIT is a school for leaders and trailblazers, and the Sloan School of Management encourages that trait by allowing students to pursue their passions and shape their path through business school almost from the very start.
Several combined and dual-degree programs are also offered for ambitious students who want to further increase the value of their time in business school.
Invention and innovation are the twin drivers of much of the activity at MIT Sloan. For students who don’t just want to excel in their chosen field of study, but to create new fields and develop ground-breaking new approaches to the way business is done, MIT is the place to be.
Of course, for students who want to take advantage of Sloan’s world-class education but prefer a little more guidance, there are plenty of options. The school offers career roadmaps and MBA tracks in Finance, Enterprise Management, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation in order to give students a framework for success.
Curriculum Overview
MIT has long been recognized as a place for students who aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of traditional learning, and create a path for themselves.
The MIT Sloan business school has consciously designed their academic calendar and curriculum to support that goal, with divided semesters and multiple opportunities for self-directed learning or global education.
Sloan’s core curriculum is just one semester long, during which all students take the same required courses: Economic Analysis for Business Decisions; Data, Models and Decisions; Communication for Leaders; Organizational Processes; and Financial Accounting.
Following the core semester, students are able to choose their own path from a number of tracks, electives, labs, and dual-degree programs in order to build a degree that is truly meaningful.
