A Master in Management, or MiM, is becoming an increasingly popular way to get a graduate management education. And INSEAD has apparently taken note of that, becoming the latest top business school to launch a MiM program.
INSEAD says that its program will give “talented young graduates the ideal launchpad for a global career.”
Like other MiM programs, INSEAD’s is targeted at students who are younger than the typical MBA student, with less work experience. INSEAD anticipates that the its average MiM student will be 22, with two or less years of working full-time.
The program will last for 10 months, from September to July, with additional introductory online coursework that can take up to a couple months if done at a “gentle pace.”
INSEAD bills itself as “the business school of the world.” Fittingly, its MiM will be split between the school’s campuses in France and Singapore. There are optional field trips to China, the United States and Abu Dhabi as well.
Coursework for the MiM will include 12 core courses and 6 electives. Also part of the program are six workshops and five “practicals” that include activities like company visits. The practicals cover topics ranging from big data to business in the Middle East.
Urs Peyer, INSEAD’s dean, pointed out that the school’s existing master programs target “experienced global professionals.
He said the new MiM would “make the INSEAD educational offering complete by equipping a new group of post-graduate, pre-experience learners with the most relevant knowledge and skills to succeed in today’s complex world and move it in new and exciting directions.”
The school expects to enroll a cohort of about 80 students who will arrive on campus in September 2020. Applicants have to complete the GMAT or the GRE and a recorded video interview followed by a Skype or face-to-face interview.
INSEAD says that decision turnaround time should be 4 to 5 weeks from submitting the online application. More information is available from INSEAD’s MiM website.
There’s a good reason that students have become more interested in MiM programs in recent years. A MiM can make a difference early in your career, and it’s more cost-effective than a two-year MBA.
